Writing and Publishing: CreateSpace
March 7, 2017
KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) now offers a paperback option. Kindle also handles createspace.com, which is a service to get a paperback option. Since the KDP paperback system is fairly new, I decided (after reading a bunch of reviews) that I would go through createspace to publish my paperback book.
Just like KDP, I entered all my tax information and started to format my book. At first, my issue was margins. I could not get the right margin in a PDF file for a 6×9′’ book. Gee! More issues. So, I started to look around and I found a TEMPLATE! Yes! Right there on createspace in tiny letters there’s a link to a template. I used it. It took a while. But I followed the format as it suggested and the final product was beautiful.

It took over a day for my book to be approved for printing. Oh, and I had to approve a proof, which you can either order physically or with a download (or you can use this online flash thing that didn’t really work for me. Too slow).
At the end my book will be sold as a paperback for $13.99.
Too expensive, I know… but some people do prefer paperback. Now, I’ve thought about buying some (I do get a discount) and going to my Half Price Books and offer it to people. I saw someone doing that the other day.
Or perhaps I’m too shy, introverted, low self-esteemed person.
I don’t know yet.

Update 12/28/2017: I have since this post updated the font size of the book “The Recruit” to make it shorter and moving the price from $13.99 to $11.49. Also, the paperback of “A Few Drops of Fantasy” was created and released for a price of $5.99
