Videogame Review: Xenoblade Chronicles

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was the first game I played on the Switch after Breath of the Wild. I had played Breath of the Wild twice and wanted something else to play. I had played most Zelda titles 2 o 3 times, and I was ready for something different on the Switch—since I bought the console to play the new Zelda game.

I was not disappointed. It took a bit to get used to the gameplay. It also took a bit to understand how to complete the side quests and how to improve your characters, but eventually I got the hang of it.

In this game, you are two characters at the same time. The Xenoblades are characters, too, but they can only work paired with your character (if that makes any sense). So you are basically both characters at the same time and each pair can create a special attack together. As you progress in the game, you are able to create more blades. If you’re lucky, you get a special Xenoblade with a name and special abilities. If not, you’ll get one generic blade you can also use and improve as you fight the monsters.

I didn’t get all blades. It would take A LOT of tries and you don’t always get what you need to create them in the first place. You develop your blades by killing specific monsters or talking to people, etc. It’s fun going around.

Although, I must add that the way the map is made is a little frustrating. You may see how many steps you need to get there, but sometimes there’s this weird way to get there and it can take quite a while to figure it out. Besides that, it’s a great game and I thoroughly recommend it.

Cheers!
