#TBT Movie Review: Star Wars – The Last Jedi
And so the day finally came when we went to see highly anticipated “Last Jedi”.
We bought out tickets a month in advance, and since my husband wanted to see the IMAX version, he bought tickets in a theater 20 minutes away. It was inside a mall and it was two weeks before Christmas, so you can imagine how long it took us to park and how crowded it was. At least we made the show because we planned to be there half an hour early. We were smart.
Episode VII does continue where it left off. With Rei visiting Luke, who refuses to help her train and the Rebellion trying to get away from the First Order, and being very unsuccessful at it.
The entire movie is basically things going wrong for everybody. The rebellion’s plans fail over an over to the point where it all seems hopeless. Even after they finally manage to get away there are so few of them left you have no idea how they will manage.
On the other side there’s Rei’s story with Luke and how Luke tries to tell her the Jedi shouldn’t exist because the Force is not the Jedi’s to control. We learn more about why Kylo Ren betrayed Luke (and I think I would have done it, too) and then we see the fate of Snoke (which I totally didn’t see coming).
The movie is filled with spaceship battles (with that wonderful blue X-Wing I like so much), lightsaber battles and jokes. It keeps you glued to your seat. My only complaint would be, in the words of my son, “It was just too long”. But, hey, we got another great Star Wars sequel!
cheers!
