Opinion: Our Experience with Amazon Freetime

Get Amazon FreeTime |
I can’t recommend Amazon FreeTime Unlimited more. It is wonderful. We have been using it for three years and the only drawback I can honestly say makes our experience less than perfect is the fact that the kids forget to charge their devices.
Pros:
– Pretty inexpensive membership (as low as $7 for up to 4 kids per month if you’re a Prime member).
– Parent Password protected.
– Cheaper than an iPad.
– You can choose to activate apps and videos for how many hours you want or leave only reading available.
– Wide variety of apps and videos. Includes popular ones.
– You can also add books/apps/videos you’ve bought on amazon.com and get them in the kids’ book selection screen.
– You can set the time the device can be turned on and off, so if you need your kids to go to bed at 8pm, the device won’t work on FreeTime after 8pm, and since they can’t log out of it without a password, they HAVE to go to sleep.
Cons:
– You need a Kindle Fire (get it while on Memorial Day sale or Thankgiving sale or Cyber Monday).
– Most of the time needs wifi to download apps/videos/books, so make sure to prepare before traveling.
– Kindle Fire battery runs out and needs constant recharge
– Some apps/videos/books may disappear month to month based or the licensing agreement with Amazon.
If you’re thinking whether to get an ipad for your children or a Kindle Fire, I definitely recommend the Kindle Fire because you can purchase FreeTime Unlimited.
cheers!
