Audiobook Review: How to Defeat a Demon King in Ten Easy Steps

We had so much fun with this audiobook!
I subscribe to audible and this book, How to Defeat a Demon King in Ten Easy Steps, was one of the choices I got for the two free originals I can get each month. I honestly don’t remember for which month now.
I listened to this story with my 11 and 13 year-old and they loved it. They have both played Breath of the Wild and Link’s Awakening on the Switch and they have also read the Ocarina of Time and Link to the Past’s graphic novels that my brother gifted me for one of my birthdays a while ago. This book bases a lot of its plot on this video game.
It also uses a bit of Final Fantasy type games for somethings, like which class the characters are, how much experience they gain from killing monsters and the grinding to level up.
The story, pretty much like in a Zelda game, follows a hero who needs to go stop a demon king. A LOT of things happen similar to the video games. The hero need to level up and go through dungeons where, yes, she even finds a compass. Ha!
Then there’s the princess pretending to be a ninja and a fairy that is stored in a bottle, but the bottle has tiny holes so she can breathe, of course.
It’s just funny and we had a great time trying to identify where the parts came from in the video games. It’s one of our favorites now and we highly recommend it.
Cheers!
