Writing and Publishing: Book Promotion – Read Free.ly

With the release of part two of my series, “Werewolf Phenomenon”, I decided to try a few free promotion websites with book one before the sequel became available on June 15th.

I set out looking for free promotion websites, and since The Recruit is currently offered for free, I didn’t want to spend a lot of money. Instead, my plan is to use the few dollars I have in Amazon Marketing Services with book two, when it comes out.

One of my successes became Read Free.ly.

Granted, I opted for the paid version, but for the $6 dollars I paid, I got great results. Read Free.ly lets you use their $6 service every four months and I plan on using it for both book one and two in October.

With $6 you get only two perks worth mentioning:

– One day featured in their newsletter (which my book shared with four other book covers).
– Five days on Twitter

The newsletter showcase became the most successful to date for “The Recruit”. You can clearly see the day it came out (with 130 downloads):

The twitter tweets they post are cute, but I don’t think they were as effective as the newsletter showcase:

This is the first time I spend any money on promos and I have to say I was very happy with Read Free.ly’s return of investment.
Even if “The Recruit” ebook is free, I got two paperback sales and two pre-orders for “Werewolf Phenomenon”, too! I actually made some money!
Well, I will most certainly try them again.
It’s been fun!
cheers!
