Visiting New York: Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum
October 10, 2017
We visited New York City in July 2017. We went there with friends and stayed in a house we rented near Central Park. This is the first time the kids were ever in New York, and so our schedule included the most popular attractions:
1. The Metropolitan Museum of Art
2. The Statue of Liberty
3. The American Museum of Natural History
4. The Guggenheim Museum
5. Intrepid Air, Sea and Space Museum
6. The Empire State Building
7. Broadway: School of Rock
On our last day, we visited the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum. It was part of our City Pass, we could choose between this museum and the 9/11 Memorial and while all adults wanted to go to the memorial we decided the kids wouldn’t really understand and appreciate it and would, instead, enjoy the aircraft carrier.
We visited the inside and outside of the aircraft carrier and saw the planes. The inside is always interesting to see because you can imagine what life is really like for the people who work there in real life.
After finishing with that we went to the white tent were they had a spaceship, the Enterprise. This was my favorite part of this museum, the spaceship. They didn’t let us go inside it, but it was still pretty cool. They had a computer simulator the kids enjoyed playing and a lot of information about NASA.
There was another part of this museum we did not visit: the submarine. We did want to go, but it was very crowded, even the line to enter was crowded and inside a plastic tent. It looked horrible, so we decided to skip it. My son was very disappointed, but there will come another opportunity for that some other time.
Overall we had a good time…
cheers!
