Video Game Review Section (NEW in 2020)

This year I wanted to have a videogame section.

Now, for a good chunk of my life, all I did was play Zelda games. This has changed.

As a child from the 1970s, I started gaming with an Atari, but my brother and I soon got a Nintendo and that changed our world.

We would play videogames that still have a special place in my heart: Contra, Lifeforce, Mario Bros, Megaman, Master Blaster, to name a few. Although we own a Nintendo, I never got into the earlier Zelda titles. RPG came later for me.

Actually, I wasn’t interested in the Zelda franchise until A Link to the Past came out for the Super Nintendo. The Super Nintendo also brought the Final Fantasy series into my life. I was introduced to Final Fantasy with its 4th installment (even if it was advertised in the US as the second). Final Fantasy IV is, in my opinion, one of the best RPGs of all time (it even got a sequel y’all).

I went on to play Final Fantasy VI on the Super Nintendo, and then VII and VIII on the Play Station before giving up on the title. Years later I played Final Fantasy IX (on the Switch) and Final Fantasy X and X-2 (on an old PS2).

But, back then, after my Final Fantasy VIII fiasco, I basically played and replayed the Zelda games.

I’ll talk more about my top 5 Zelda games in the next post, but for now, I can tell you I can’t wait for the sequel to Breath of the Wild.

My life became a replay of Zelda for a very long time. It wasn’t until a few years later that I got out of my comfort zone when I played Breath of the Wild for the second time that I left dear old Zelda and entered the world of adult gaming (as I call it).

After trying Skyrim (back when the kids were born) and hating it, I replayed it ten years later and loved it. Then came The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and now Horizon Zero Dawn (which I’m currently playing). The world of gaming is vast and the games are getting better and better.

I can’t wait to talk about them with you.

Cheers!
