#TBT Movie Review: Star Wars – The Empire Strikes Back

In our efforts to watch the first movies before The Last Jedi, we continued our saga with The Empire Strikes Back. The kids enjoyed this one, too. This movie is basically split into four parts, I think: Hoth, Degobah, the inside of the space monster and Cloud City. One thing that the kids mentioned was that in this movie, the good guys basically loose at the end.

They did know about the great “reveal” when Darth Vader tells Luke about who he really was, but they did not remember that Vader cuts Luke’s hand. They were in total shock and couldn’t believe it. It wasn’t until they realized he gets a robot hand that they could rest easy… because robot hands are totally ok in their book.

I gotta say this is my least favorite of the original Star Wars movies, although for a while during my teenage, angsty years, it was my favorite one. Not anymore. My favorite one now has to be the next one: Return of the Jedi, because, who doesn’t love the Ewoks!

cheers!

Common Sense Media recommends this movie for children 8 and up.
