Our Visit to the Dallas Museum of Art

We are member to the Dallas Museum of Art. Being a member has some advantages. One of them is the free parking option under the museum. It’s pretty great, although on peak days/hours, it does get full, so be sure to go early if you want to use this perk. The museum is free, but the special exhibitions aren’t and with membership you can visit them for free. We like that.

During the summer we visited the especial exhibition on Mexican artists. The artists featured included Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, José Clemente Orozco, and David Alfaro Siqueiros, all of whom I am familiar with.

The children are getting older and we can now take them to art museum, a fact I am happy about. We still need to explain about art and artists and why they painted what they painted, but they are becoming more and more interested every year (I confess my 10 year old girl is more interested than my 8 year old boy).

The exhibition was long and popular, it was a surprise to see how full it was! We even met a lady outside who was there before the museum opened because she had tried visiting the day before and not only was the parking lot full, there was a very long line to buy tickets. We arrived at the museum 10 minutes after opening and the long line was already there. Fortunately, the member line was practically non-existent and we got our free tickets right away (again, perks!).

I like the Dallas Art Museum, it’s architecture is wonderful and the art exhibitions very varied. It’s a little far from home, but we still visit often. I wish we had more time that day to visit the other exhibitions, but it was time to go home. Hope you visit soon, too!

cheers!
