On Writing and Publishing: Book Review – Newsletter Ninja
I first heard about this book and author Tammi Labrecque in The Creative Penn podcast. Tammi, a very down-to-earth lady, spoke in detail about mailing lists and how important they were. But, most importantly, she spoke about how EVERYBODY is afraid of them and how once we get over that fear, everything would be ok.
I bought the book because I wanted to learn more about newsletters and because I liked how Tammi Labrecque talked about our real-life fears and how we can do it if we have the right mindset.
In her book, she talks a lot about why you should have a newsletter and how you shouldn’t stress out about it. She tells you how to set it up in terms of content, not technicalities. It was just what I needed to hear. With her help, while reading her book, I opened a MailChimp account, created a landing page and the first welcoming emails for the mailing list subscribers I will one day have.
Granted, I still don’t have any fans, but I want to be positive that once my books gain a following I will start seeing some movement in that department.
With Tammi’s help, I decided to be myself on the monthly emails I will send my subscribers, writing about what I love and know about. Since she was also very detailed in the type of subscribers each author should have, I decided that whoever enjoys my books and my news will stay. Here I am crossing my fingers that someone will stay. Eep!
If you want to join my mailing list, you can always click on the right tab on this page. It will take you to my landing page (still under construction) and we will embark in a new adventure together.
cheers!
