On Books: My To Be Read Pile

My to-be-read pile has been growing.

There is a reason why these books are here and why I must read them as soon as possible. Today, I will talk about these books.

Artemis Fowl:

The first book in the pile is the one I’m currently reading. As I am writing this, I’m about 1/4 into the book. Why am I reading this? Well, this book has a long story. I got it in a box of books I bought from eBay once when I taught third grade. No one in my third-grade class ever read it, not even my daughter  (besides, it’s meant for 6th graders), but the title called to me. It’s been in my to-be-read pile for a while. A few months ago, my best friend (who is a super avid reader) told me she was reading the series. At this point, I looked in my books of third-grade books (I don’t teach third grade anymore) and pulled it out. I still didn’t read it. I guess what finally made me put it on top of the pile was when I learned about the movie that came out. I still took a few months to start it (the movie came out and I was still reading it). But, I finally got to do it!

Serafina and the Twisted Staff:

This is the second book in this series. The first book was okay; not great, but not boring, either. It’s for upper elementary grades and I found it in my school’s Book Fair for $2. As a teacher, I get a few bucks to spend, which I use to buy a book for my class, a book for each of my kids, and then see how much I have left (for, like a pen or something). This time, I saw the sequel for cheap and got it. Now I need to read it.

Cinder:

The first book in the Lunar Chronicles. I have no idea what that means yet, but my sister-in-law gave this book to my twelve-year-old daughter for Christmas and apparently it’s the best thing since sliced bread. Even my sister-in-law is now a fan. So, my daughter gave me her copy to read it. I have to read it, she said. I’m really curious now. We’ll see.

The Woman in Cabin 10:

This book is by Ruth Ware. Last year I read her book In a Dark, Dark Wood. It wasn’t great, but it wasn’t bad. Besides, one genre that I really enjoy are these thrillers with women. I saw this book at the Half-Price Books when we took our daughter for her birthday and it wanted to come home with me.

I Hate Fairyland Vol. 3:

I’m yet to write the review for volume 2 of this hilarious comic book. Volume three continues the dark and funny adventures of Gertrude as she tries to survive Fairyland (or is it the other way around). As with vol. 1 and 2, I expect to be surprised by the horrible turn of events you can’t help but laugh about. The art is amazing and I just have so much fun.

The Hazel Wood:

I got this one at Barnes and Noble because my daughter’s sixth-grade teacher lent it to my daughter and she really loved it. I saw it there in the YA book table and I got it. I don’t really know what it’s about, but I’m ready to be surprised.

Caraval:

Out of all the books in my pile, Caraval is the one I’m looking the most forward to reading. For some reason, my daughter claims this is the best series ever. We went to Barnes and Noble for a special Red Queen event and the last book on the Caraval series was out and my daughter was even more excited about that than meeting Victoria Aveyard. It’s three books, and like Hazel Wood, I can’t wait to be surprised.

And as we are talking about the Red Queen series, I’m still to read part three and four. So, I guess after I’m done with these books I’ll continue with that series.

Do you have any suggestions for me? What do you think of my to-be-read pile?

I wanna know!

cheers!
