Movie Review #TBT: Sister Act

I remember we owned the soundtrack to this movie and so I know all of the songs by heart.
Recently the movie celebrated it’s 25th anniversary, can you believe it? Boy, time flies!
This is the reason why I thought about showing it to the kids. I saw it in the news one day and knew it was time for the kids to watch it.
I confess it does have a few scenes that talk about adult topics, but in a way that is not as bad. It was good enough for me to explain that the main character wanted to marry an already married man. We had some conversations about that. Also, we needed to talk about how the mob boss was bad and what a mob boss was.
Apart from that, once the nuns start singing the kids were hooked. They even clapped at the end of their performances. Loved it!
They liked it enough to want to watch the sequel. I vaguely remember what it was about, but I do remember that it wasn’t as good as the first one.
Common Sense Media recommends this movie for children 10 and up.
