Movie Review: Mortdecai

Mortdecai was a 99 cent rental at some point last week, I believe, and so… we watched it.
I am not a fan of Johnny Depp, and I had heard this horrible reviews of the movie (I understand why), but the rest of the cast was interesting – with  Gwyneth Paltrwo, Ewan McGregor, Olivia Monn, Jeff Goldblum, and the best role of them all in my opinion, Paul Bettany.
We watched the preview and saw the movie a, or almost a, detective story. We decided to give it a try.
Overall, the movie is weird and not that good, and yet… we couldn’t not watch it. Johnny Depp’s Mortdecai was ridiculous, but all of the characters were made ridiculous in their own way. That was just how the story went. It was all a planned strange, over-the-top, ridiculous movie, I think.
But again, we couldn’t stop watching.
We did laugh, a couple of times, and the best part of it all were those scene’s with Paul Bettany’s character that just didn’t really make sense.
I’m not sure if I could recommend this movie. I don’t regret seeing it, but at the same time I don’t want to be associated with it.
It’s just ridiculously weird.
cheers!
