Movie Review: Justice League
December 6, 2017
Also, I think it’s important to say that, even before I got into DC, I did read the collection of comics that made the Death of Superman, World Without Superman and The Return of Superman (which was compiled in a thick graphic novel).
I think before my review, I must say that I started reading comic books at the age of 16. I started with the X-Men (the X-Cutioner Song story line was my intro to comic books), collecting them all through college. I own quite a bit. Right now, I don’t care much about Marvel. Mostly I read independent comic books (a big part of them for adults) and Batman. Batman hasn’t disappointed. He’s awesome! He’s my all time favorite. I fell in love with him with the Batman: Adventures cartoon back in the day, but after I started collecting the Batman/Superman comic books, I try to read as much Batman as I can get my hands on them. Mostly from the public library.

That’s what I know about the comic books. The rest I know from watching cartoons, shows and those special animated movies DC makes based on famous comics. I like those.
When the Batman vs. Superman movie came out I was super excited. I really liked it. It was a little dark, but Batman is dark (have you ever read Dead of the Family? Scary!) so I went with it. Besides, who didn’t want to see Batman and Superman together? Come on!
This brings me to Justice League.
For some reason everything DC is always said to be horrible and everything Marvel seems to be great. Sure, Thor was great. Avengers was great, Winter Soldier was great, Iron Man 1 and 2 were great… and the rest? They weren’t amazing, really, and yet they are rated like the best movies in the universe. It makes me doubt the rating system.
Justice League was, unfortunately, victim to this adulterated rating system. Just like Man of Steel and Batman v Superman, it apparently sucked! Justice League didn’t suck!
I LOVED IT!
The only thing I didn’t like was the issue with Henry Cavill’s moustache… too bad about that, but really? That’s not the whole movie.
The plot made perfect sense to me. There’s this bad guy called Darkseid who apparently most people don’t know about. He is one of the most important villains out there. He is a great character. Darkseid lives in this planet called Apokolips. It’s pretty awesome. I don’t think people realize that the Justice League usually works in SPACE and battles threats from EVERYWHERE in the universe. Even different dimensions. The Martian Manhunter (who was missing from the JA lineup in this movie) is not even human. There are Aliens in the DC universe. A lot of them! Even Superman is an alien, for crying out loud.
It turns out the bad guy from the movie comes from Akopolis. It all just made perfect sense to me. Are there plot holes, sure! As are there plot holes in all those other fantastic Marvel Universe movies. But, guys, it’s an action movie based on a comic book! Why are plot holes important in the DC universe, but not Marvel? I just don’t get it.
The point is that this movie had a lot of action, humor, my favorite character (Batman) and it was very enjoyable. To me, it made sense.
Go see it! I would love to see more!
cheers!
