Movie Review: Jumanji – Welcome to the Jungle

What a fun movie! I love Kevin Hart and The Rock together. They make me laugh so much! And then there was also Jack Black, who did an amazing job as a “teenage girl”. I only know Karen Gillan from Guardians of the Galaxy, I never saw any Dr. Who episodes where she was the companion, but she also pulled her weight.

This movie is basically the same idea as the original Jumanji, except the board game (yes, the same one), becomes a video game magically and it sucks 5 teenagers into it’s world. Inside this world there is a small hint that Robin William’s character had once been there, too, so it’s kinda awesome it’s still the same universe.

The world is also very much like a video game, with the NPC (Non-Playing Characters) repeating lines, just like a video game and character’s strengths and weaknesses (Kevin Hart had the best weaknesses).

The movie is about the main characters trying to get a gem back to where it was stolen and thus, returning to the real world, and even when it was a little predictable, it was fun and action packed. I really enjoyed watching this movie. The kids did, too, although there was a particular scene that wasn’t as appropriate as I wanted it to be, but nothing major (it is a PG13 movie, after all).

cheers!
