Movie Review: Alien Covenant *Spoilers!*

I just could not write a review for this movie without spoilers. So, SPOILERS AHEAD!
Ok, so this is the latest Alien movie so far. Possibly the last one. I confess I did not know it was a direct prequel to Aliens (1986), and by the time I figured this out (late in the movie, I’m apparently not that smart), I realized how the movie would end would not be pretty. (Update 11/28/17: My brother told me this is NOT the prequel to Aliens… so, there!)
They say you need to have watched Prometeus before watching this movie, and I agree:

From Prometeus we learn that David is the real “bad” guy of this movie. Everything he’s been doing since the beginning has been to become a creator, and in this movie it is revealed he is the creator of the aliens in the colony we are introduced in the second Alien movie, Aliens.
The movie in itself is not like the others because throughout the series, we are meant to be afraid of the alien(s) who may come out of nowhere and kill people. This was not the case for me in this movie. Don’t get me wrong. The aliens are creepy (there are several kinds of them here), but they were not the root of my terror. It was David.
Whatever the characters did didn’t really matter. They would all be dead in the end, wouldn’t they? At least at the end of Rogue One I couldn’t tell if the main characters would live or die… in Alien: Covenant, we know exactly what their fates would be.
Would I recommend this movie? I guess if you’ve seen all of them, I recommend this one. It’s much of the same in regards to the aliens, and the character David is mostly like he was in the first movie, but with much more power. Also, I liked seeing the black alien from the movie Aliens at the end and see how and why it was created.
You won’t be disappointed in entertainment.
cheers!
