Learning Web Development: Goodbye Coursera, Hello Udemy

Well, I got to a point when the coursera course I was taking starting talking about Bootstrap. I like Bootstrap enough to want to know about it and learn about it, but the instructor suddenly started dropping a lot of information without any background and I started to get all overwhelmed and lost.
The next chapter was about Javascript, but since I felt all disappointed with the way the instructor handled Bootstrap, I decided to drop the course and find another one. Then, something happened. I could not get coursera courses for free anymore, at least not the ones I was interested in.
And that’s understandable. These people work hard to get these videos on how to code and they deserve to earn money for their hard work. I understand. I really do.
Now, I knew from the start that I would eventually need to invest money to go all the way into becoming a developer. I know my goal may be near to impossible because I am older and not really connected with the computer programming world, but I also know I will try my best and, who knows, I may be able to do it.
What I decided was to start looking into programming schools. Codeschool.com is the one that interests me the most. It’s not as expensive and it looks like it can help me go from a beginner to intermediate. I may later need to take a masters degree in a field to become marketable if my ultimate goal is to get hired by a company. But, that’s a year or two in the future at this point.
So, I bought two $10 courses from Udemy.com. One on Javascript, which I am starting today and one on Web Development as a whole. Once I’m done with these courses I will start paying my monthly tuition at codeschool.com and go from there.
Scary and exciting. I know!
cheers!
