June 2020 News

Welcome to the June post where I tell all about my creative world.

Although I usually have headers dividing what I do, I decided to just talk about stuff this month—in color!
The most pressing issue I want to talk about it book 3 in my series.

My series (NAVSA: North American Vampire Secret Agency) is six parts. It’s about a woman who is recruited to become a werewolf hunter. After becoming a vampire and being trained, she realizes that she’s now in the middle of the ultimate battle between vampires and werewolves, something that hasn’t been seen in a long time. A mastermind werewolf is rallying all werewolves in the country to join and destroy the vampire agency for good. He wants to shift the status quo, and have werewolves become the hunters instead of the hunted.

This werewolf has a plan and part of it involves many, many deaths. This is where my books turn dark. Book 1 introduces our main characters. Book 2 introduces the werewolves. Book 3 introduces the witches.

Now, book three is called The Fall of Witchcraft for a reason. Witchcraft will fall. Yes. it will get very dark. It isn’t be for the faint of heart. Will you be able to take it? Seems my editor is having a hard time dealing with the losses in this book. She is suggesting I make it happier. I don’t want to change the plot of the book, but I will try to add some inner thoughts to my main characters who, in this book, are trapped in the middle of it all.

I’ll be thinking about what to do about Book 3 for a few weeks as I work with the editor. Book 4 is ready to be edited, but it also has some dark parts. Book 5 is done and revised and I will run it through Grammarly before I send it to the editor next year.

I’m in the middle of plotting book 6 and I still need to rewrite 2 short stories. Then this series will be done, I hope.

I have three writing projects under Claudia Silva. Two are serials that spawn from the NAVSA universe. One follows the life of a mutant, the other follows the life of a magic user.

Then I’m planning to plot a 5 book series based on a comic book I once wrote. It’ll be more Young Adult and much cheerful than the NAVSA series. For this series, I will plot all five books before writing the first one. This should make the writing, revising, editing, and releasing process faster when the time comes. I’m expecting the first book will come out in 2022, as I’ll be working on the other two serials at the same time.

Yesterday, another thought came to me when I was talking with my husband about TV shows, especially The Mandalorian and The Witcher. Once, I also had another comic book. I won’t reveal much now, but a million ideas came to me about what we were talking about yesterday about this character I created for a creative comic book writing class I took in college. This would be a project that comes after I finish the 5 book YA series. One I will also plot in its entirety before writing  and one which will be an adult book, not YA.

And then I’ll also be working on my children’s books. I write those under Claudia Alonso. I’m already plotting Moose and Cow #2. I will finish this summer and start with the cover, which I will release right away. This is a more complicated story to write, since Moose and Cow already know each other and will begin their new adventures at the farm. I estimate it will take me 6 months to release. So, perhaps it’ll be ready in time for Christmas. It’s still not set in stone, and I will adjust as I see how the series is progressing.

I am also wanting to write and illustrate a Spanish book based on the Gingerbread Man. I know this book should come out by Christmas, but at this time, I’m planning to begin after I’m done with Moose and Cow #2, which means it may be ready for Christmas 2021.

When that’s done, I’ll continue with Moose and Cow #3. I have so many ideas for this series, but I’d like to write a standalone book in between each of those. We’ll see.

One possible book I want to write is a book of poetry for older kids. Maybe between second and third grade. This book will be more of a challenge for me, but I think it’ll be nice to have the next book in this series. I may call it Poemas medianos para niños, and if I ever write one for students in fourth and fifth grade, the title could be Poemas largos para niños. This is all just hypothetical at this point and nothing may result from this idea.

All products in my TpT (TeachersPayTeacher) store are on hold. The only product I’d like to finish before August is a series of readers for our notebooks. I’m excited about that. As part of Claudia Alonso books, I wish to start a youtube channel where I can read my books, other books in Spanish that authors send my way and perhaps even a phonics class to learn how to read in Spanish. This is a project that still isn’t set in stone either. I may or may not go through with it. We’ll see.

As for books, I’m currently reading The Woman in the Window:

I’ll read The Institute next:

I’m playing Mario Odyssey more because my son asked me to play than anything. I’m enjoying it a little, although I confess this thing about finding hundreds of stars is really not my thing. I’m playing it on the Nintendo Switch:

Next, I’ll play Assassin’s Creed Origins. I have already downloaded it on the PS4. Got a great deal the other day and I went for it:

Until next time!
Cheers
