Opinion: How Do You Choose a Coffee Cup in the Morning?
April 10, 2017
I know, it seems pretty dumb to be writing about coffee cups (or mugs), but I opened my cabinet door this morning and I wondered what makes me choose a certain cup each morning. We have many – every time we visit Disney we purchase one, for example – but I have my favorites and each morning I am in the mood for one.
Here are my faves:
Now, the butterfly one I got in Las Vegas. I went there last year with my mother-in-law and sisters-in-law (my first time in Vegas) and I found it in the hotel’s gift shop (Bellagio). It brings me memories, for sure, but mostly I like it because it’s pretty. I like the colors and the white background and the butterflies.
The next one (with Disney characters on it) is one my husband got for me at Disney. I didn’t see him buy it, but when I saw it I wanted it. He said he had gotten it for me. He is nice that way. It’s pretty and the pattern is so original to me. I like it. I like drinking from it.
The green one that says Mine! Mine! Mine! I also bought at Disney (hard to guess, right?) For a long time it was my number one favorite, but lately I’ve been alternating between the 6 you see here. Basically I like this one because… well, it’s MINE! LOL.
On the left front, that mug we got last summer when we visited Dollywood with our best friends. I wanted something that would remind me of the place and my time there. I found this mug. It’s simple and pretty. I just like it. It’s a little too big for my tastes some times, but not always. When I do use it, I only fill it half-way with coffee because I don’t drink so much coffee and it gets cold fast. Even with these cons, I still like it.
The one in the middle is one my husband had made for me especially. The acronym N.A.V.S.A. stands for North American Vampire Secret Agency. You probably don’t know what that means… well, it’s the universe I created with the stories I write. I have written over a dozen stories about this universe. I published the first part this February. I’m excited. I loved this surprise one day. It’s really special. The letter V is supposed to be a fang. My husband watched me trying to create a logo for the agency and tried to do something similar when he had the cup made. Love!
Finally, the little one at the end is a gift from my brother and his wife. They live in Seattle and are always on the look out for original, hand-made stuff. This time, they found these two cups (one is pink, one blue) and gave them to us one Christmas a loooong time ago. I like the design, but I also like that it’s small. My coffee doesn’t get cold when it’s small.
And these are the reasons I like these coffee cups.
Do you have any special darlings in your life?
cheers!
