Events: Medieval Times – New Show
We came back to Medieval Times this summer to celebrate Father’s Day. It was packed, but we thought it would be a good surprise for the kids (it was my husband idea, he’s just that awesome). We had fun not telling them where we were going even if they asked all sort of questions. At the end we told them it was a place where they served chicken and you should have seen their faces when we pulled over next to that castle and they immediately said, “Of course! They serve chicken here!” as if the answer had been obvious all the time.
We knew the show had changed. Mostly we knew instead of a king, there would be a queen.
I have to say, most of the show was exactly the same. The food was mostly the same, as well, except they change the yummy apple pastry for a plain (and should I say cold?) coffee cake. Loss.
As for the show, everything went just as it usually is (with a queen instead of he king and princess), a few jokes here and there, and then… the horrible ending.
Before, the storyline included an evil knight from another realm who wanted the princess. At the end, all knight fought him, the champion defeated him and the princess ended up with the champion.
Now, the mean knight is… ONE OF THE ACTUAL KNIGHTS! What!?
So, imagine you’re there, cheering for your knight, and suddenly he starts on a rant on how a WOMAN should not rule him in a world of men and so on. Thank goodness he wasn’t my knight or I would have been very upset. We did not like this turn of event that, while different, didn’t feel right. The champion fights him just as he did in the other version. I can just not imagine leaving Medieval times knowing your knight was the bad guy. What’s up with that.
The rest of the show was just as good. We still had a good time. The sword fights still put me on edge, the falcon behaved, and yet… I would go back to the old show anytime!
cheers!

Hello Claudia! π
Your blog seems so interesting so I thought to drop a comment! π
The show you went to with your family seems so amazing! In Italy it's difficult to find events like that :/ Where are you from? Your name is Italian! Well, Roman actually! π
Anyway I don't know why but this feeling of "it was better before" it's very common, it happens also to me, sometimes, not only about events but also about music, literature and so on ahahah! π
Well, nice to meet you!
Diana.
