Book Review: Nightmares!

During the summer, I insisted that my daughter read the Texas Bluebonnet books (the nominees, anyway). Our neighborhood library has a list advertised in one of the shelves (that and, they are online) so I did my best to promote more quality reading for my daughter (who is now in 4th grade).
She of course, wanted to keep reading her tween books (like Dork Diaries) and I had a hard time getting her to read them. Even when she did read some, she did not want to read Nightmares!. Now, an interesting thing about this book – at least to me – is that one of the authors is Jason Segel, who I had seen in Freaks and Geeks, How I Met Your Mother and other movies. That made the book even more intriguing.
And so one day, I just checked it out and began to read. Coincidentally, the school’s librarian recommended this book to my daughter and, of course she did listen to her, she began to read it as well.  It is rare when we read a book together. My fourth grader, believe it or not, reads much faster than I and usually finishes books first and then I have to struggle to stop her from spoiling me.
It is definitely a book for a young audience, but it kept me entertained ALL the time. It was predictable at times, even when odd things kept happening, yet it was still fun to read how it happened.
I hear two sequels came out and both my daughter and I will be there to read them 🙂
cheers!
