Book Review: Dragonbreath
April 30, 2017
Dragonbreath is a book in a series by Ursula Vernon. I know the author after reading and being fascinated by her book Castle Hangnail. Seriously. Castle Hangnail is awesome. All kids should read this π
I found out about Dragonbreath because when I was a teacher buying collections of books, I realized that these books were by the Castle Hangnail author. And, since she was amazing, I gave them a try.
Don’t get me wrong. This are really good books for kids, but the target audience is for younger kids than the one for Castle Hangnail. I would say kids in second grade through fourth grade would really enjoy Dragonbreath, while Castle Hangnail, is more for teenagers and up. Or, like me, adults.
I would definitely recommend Dragonbreath for elementary school aged children. It’s fun and instructional. The main character is a dragon who only breathes fire in dire circumstances, which is a little frowned upon by his parents. Also, dragons are myth and the rest of the characters treat them like myth until they meet the dragons. It’s cute.
I would definitely pick up a copy of any of the Dragonbreath books in this series for your kids.
cheers!
