Book Review: Children of Blood and Bone
It took me a while to finish this book, to tell the truth.
It has a great premise and it’s well written, but after the setup, everything slows down and whatever happens is, in my opinion, too much.
Unfortunately, it got to a point where I wasn’t interested anymore. I understand there has to be character development, but the way it was done was slow and not very interesting to me.
There were also some predictable parts – or some characters who had predictable futures. By the end of it, everything suddenly picks up and you are left in a TOTAL cliffhanger. I can imagine that, after the second book comes out, a little bit will be resolved from the cliffhanger and it will go into the slow middle again for 400 pages before starting up again just in time for another cliffhanger.
I haven’t decided if I want to read the book. I feel a little betrayed, to tell the truth. Too bad, I had such great expectations.
I still give it 4 stars (or 3.5 if Goodreads let me).
cheers!
