Book Review: Castle Hangnail
March 11, 2017
I read this book by Ursula Vernon because my nine year old daughter recommended it to me. How she got to this book from the hundreds of books in the library’s shelves it’s beyond me, but I’m glad she did.
This book is about magic. It is written for the younger audience, but I thought the characters had more depth than some adult books I’ve read.
The story follows a little girl who actually has magical powers who is looking to belong to the supernatural world. And so, she pretends to be someone else to get herself a castle to rule.
I highly recommend it. In fact, I wanted it for my classroom library and it was still very expensive and I thought I would get it for another year. Instead, I bought more of Ursula Vernon’s books (Dragon Breath, to be exact).
What a wonderful author!
cheers!
